The D-MAVT Student Administration in LEE K208 offers the following services:

  • Information on administrative questions related to the study program
  • Guidance on the course curriculum
  • Administration of study performances
  • Recognition of the Industrial Internship
  • Issuing of confirmations
  • Requests for recognition of previous ETH study achievements on Master’s level
  • Issuing of transcripts/final transcript of records
  • Official requests for postponement of military and civilian service

For admission to the degree program in Master of Science in Micro and Nanosystems, a Bachelor's Degree in one of the following engineering science disciplines is required:

  • Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Microsystems Technology

Students with different backgrounds can be admitted with additional requirements.

Interested candidates should apply online to ETH Zurich Admissions Office for admission to the Master's Degree program (how to apply).

After a successful application, students will receive a registration form with their admission letter. Please follow the instructions and deadlines set.

The D-MAVT Student Administration is responsible for the performance assessments.

All results/grades including ECTS are reported on myStudies under “Transcript of records”.

After receiving the results, students have 30 days to request an appealable decree, if they believe that the results are unjustified. Afterwards, legal steps can be taken.

The completed external page "Dienstverschiebungsformular für den AdA im Studium" needs to be verified by the D-MAVT Student Administration.

Afterwards, the students must forward the request for postponement to the external page military authority of their place of residence.

The application must be submitted to the military authority at least 14 weeks before the start of the military service.

In case of rejection, the external page Verbindungsstelle Armee - Hochschulen Zürich offers support and reevaluates requests.

The program deadline applying to each particular student is displayed in myStudies under “Deadlines: last possible date”. It is the student’s responsibility to observe the deadlines and to comply with them. The student must plan his/her curriculum accordingly.

If the study deadline cannot be met, a personal meeting with the Student Administration to discuss the further study plan is required.

If it is apparent after the meeting that an extension of the study deadline is required, a request may be submitted to the Vice Rector.

After gaining all required credit points, students may file the degree request via myStudies. Should the allocation of a performance assessment not be possible, the D-MAVT Student Administration can complete this retroactively. The printed and signed degree request must be submitted to the D-MAVT Student Administration personally or by email to .

The title of the Master's Program is:

The shorter form MSc ETH MNS may be used

The Overall Grade Point Average of the Master's Degree is composed of the weighted Grade Point Average of the following grades:

The Grade Point Average of the Core Courses is weighted according to the credit points of each course (consisting of the weighted means of all grades issued in this category; the grade’s weighting equates to the corresponding number of credit points). The Industrial Internship, courses of the category Science in Perspective (SiP) and the Multidisciplinary Courses do not influence the Master's Degree grade.

Outstanding students with an Overall Grade Point Average of 5.75 (or higher) will be awarded with the title “passed with distinction”. This title will be specified on the degree and the transcript.
